Penny Korethoski
Penny has has been an Animal Technologist since 1999. She has worked at the Nelson Animal Hospital since 2003. In the summer of 2007, she expanded her knowledge of animals by becoming an accredited Dog Trainer through the Animal Behaviour College and became a certified Pet First Aid instructor through the Walks N Wags program in 2009. Her dedication to helping pets and their owners makes training a fun and exciting challenge!
Leanna Mailhot
Leanna joined the Nelson Animal Hospital in 2003. She does a little bit of everything around here, from nursing patients to some office manager responsibilities. She was a long time volunteer for Second Chance Animal Shelter, and has a special gift for taming feral cats. She lives in South Slocan with her partner Brad, their daughter Alexis, 3 horses, 3 cats and a special needs dog. Leanna is absolutely horse crazy, and if she's not riding or scooping manure, you'll find her in the garden.
Michelle Jones
Michelle has been working for the Nelson Animal Hospital since March 2011, recently relocated from Winnipeg, MB in October 2010 with her teenage son, Dorian. She enjoys the scenery and is looking forward to continued new experiences the future holds in the Kootenays. She is also a volunteer for Nelson Search and Rescue, and feels enthusiatic and joyful about the sense of safety and trust of those in the community. Previously in Manitoba, she volunteered for the No Kill Animal Shelter and in Nelson, the Second Chance Animal Shelter. In Winnipeg, she was employed with the Grace Hospital and also received training with the Military and Family Services and Housing. She has the knowledge and compassion from these experiences to help those less fortunate and in need.
Charlotte Richards
Charlotte has been working at the Nelson Animal Hospital since 2008. SHe started out wroking part time as a kennel assistant and progressed into working as a veterinary assistant. Originally born and raised in England, Charlotte found her passion for working with sick animals. She says "seeing them walk out of the clinic, happier than when they came in, is very rewarding.". She graduated high school in 2008 and started working at the clinic shortly after that. She is now trained in the monitoring of the patients under anesthesia, and assists the veterinarians where needed. She spends her free time caring for and riding her horse Thunder, and enjoys going for walks with her 2 dogs, Odin (a black Lab cross) and her rescue dog Missy.
